Importing email from Gmail

When you want to migrate email from a Gmail account to Cloud86, you can do so by following the steps below: 


Create a Gmail app password

  1. Go to your Google security settings: https://myaccount.google.com/security
  2. Enable 2FA using the method of your choice.
  3. Go to your Google app passwords: https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords
  4. Choose an app name, for example Plesk Cloud86, and click Create.
  5. Save the app password; you will need it to import the email.

Import Gmail mail into Plesk

  1. Log in to the Plesk Control Panel. ( For the full manual with images, follow Login to Plesk )
  2. Click on the 'Import Mail' button and then on 'Import Mail Messages'.

  3. In the next window, indicate where and which data from your old email should be fetched. Click on 'Show Advanced Options' to see all the options you need.
    • Source Email Address: enter the gmail address from which you want to migrate the email.
    • Source Password: enter the app password for the gmail address that you created above.
    • Destination Email: this is the email address where you want to move all the email. You can use an email address you have already created in the Plesk Control Panel or you can create a new email address directly. In the latter case, you also provide a new password.
  4. Click 'OK' and your email will be imported immediately!
