WordPress: Install

WordPress is the most popular CMS system in the world which is used for creating websites, blogs, and even online stores. CMS stands for a Content Management System, which simply means it is an application that allows you to manage the content of your website.

With the help of the WordPress Toolkit, installing a new WordPress website becomes simpler. You no longer need to create a databases or upload files like you used to. Nowadays a few mouse clicks are enough to get started with your new website!

With the help of this guide, you can learn how to start a new WordPress website.

Login on Plesk Control Panel

  1. In My Cloud86 (link), click in the left menu on My Services.
  2. Click the 3 dots behind the web hosting package you want to see in Plesk and click View Details.
  3. Under the heading Manage Webhosting (middle of the page), click on Websites & Domains.
  4. You will now be automatically logged into the Plesk Control Panel.

Create WordPress website

  1. In Plesk, click in the left menu on WordPress.
  2. In the WP Toolkit menu click on Install.
  3. In the next window you can configure your WordPress website
    • Installation path: indicate where you want to place your new website. If you don't have another website, leave this as it is and WordPress will be installed on the main domain (using our example domain, this would be cloud86example.com). Otherwise, you can choose to install the website in a subdirectory like https://cloud86example.com/wordpress.
    • Website title: enter the title of your website here.
    • Plugin or theme set (optional): these are a number of standard themes and plugins that we offer and that are automatically installed.
    • Website language: depending on the language you will use on your website.
    • Version: if you want to choose an older version of WordPress, you can adjust it here. The latest version is selected by default.
    • Username: the username you want to use to log in to WordPress later.
    • Password: the password you want to use as an administrator.
    • Email: the email address that should be linked to the administrator account.
  4. You don't need to adjust the other settings unless you have specific requirements for your database and WordPress updates. Particularly suitable for advanced users.
  5. Click on Install and your new website will be prepared and automatically secured.
  6. When finished installing the WordPress Toolkit will asks if you want to install plugins for your website. This step is optional and can be skipped (No thank you).

WordPress Login

You can now click Sign in in WP Toolkit and you will be automatically logged in to the WordPress dashboard. Here you can then create a new user, so that from now on you can also log in directly via the url https://<domain>/wp-admin, (example: https://cloud86example.com/wp-admin) or replace the domain with the Search Path of installation, which you entered when creating.
