There are situations in which it is useful to create an additional user in the Plesk control panel who can manage your website. Think for example of the developer of your website or someone who manages email addresses for you. These steps to make a new user in Plesk are described below.
Login on Plesk Control Panel
- In My Cloud86 (link), click in the left menu on My Services.
- Click the 3 dots behind the web hosting package you want to see in Plesk and click View Details.
- Under the heading Manage Webhosting (middle of the page), click on Websites & Domains.
- You will now be automatically logged into the Plesk Control Panel.

Plesk: Adding an extra user
- In Plesk, click in the left menu on Users.
- Click on Create User Account.
- Fill in the requested information. All things marked with a red asterix (*) have to be filled in, all other options are optional. Finally click on OK.
General Information
- Contact name: Speaks for itself
- Email address: enter the new user's email address here so they can have their password reset.
- External email address: An alternative email address for the “forgot password” option.
- User role: Specify here the level of permissions you want to give the user. In the example, we give the role “owner” so that the new user has access to everything.
- Access to subscriptions: Here you can allow the new user access to only 1 specific subscription. The value “All” gives them access to all subscriptions within your hosting account.
Plesk Preferences
- Username: the username that the user can use to log into the Plesk control panel.
- Password: choose a password for the new user. You can also have it generated automatically by Plesk. Then click the Show button to view the password that will be set. You can then copy this and send it to the new user.
- Language of Plesk: which language will be used by default for the new user.
- User is active: check this to activate and grant access to the new user. If you uncheck this checkbox later (or delete the user) they will no longer have access to the control panel from then on.
Plesk URL login
In addition to logging into Plesk through My Cloud86 (manual), you can also log into Plesk directly by going to the web hosting URL. This URL depends on the server your web hosting account is located on, and you can find this url when logged into Plesk. In the case of our example, the url is: https://shared11.cloud86-host.io:8443
Note: We are using our test server in this example, shared11.cloud86-host.io:8443, replace it with the server you want to give someone rights to.
You have now created a new user who can independently log into the Plesk Control Panel to manage your web hosting plan. Use the URL of your Plesk server and the newly created username and password.
