If you have ordered a new domain name, we must first ensure that this domain is made accessible over the Internet. We do this by adding the domain to the DNS servers.
Adding a domain for a website is a 2-step process:
- Adding the domain to the DNS Zone
- Adding the domain to your web hosting package in Plesk
Before we can add the domain to the web hosting package, we must first add the domain to the DNS. You can achieve this by following these steps:
Login on My Cloud86 Dashboard
Use the following steps to log in to Cloud86:
- Go to the url: my.cloud86.io
- Enter the email address you used when registering.
- When you placed the order, you provided a password for your account. Forgot which password you used? Then have a new one sent to you via the forgotten password link.
Adding domain to DNS Zone
- In My Cloud86, click in the left menu on Domains and then Manage DNS.
- Find the hosting package you want to add the domain to. Then click the button + Add DNS zone. Don't have a Web Hosting plan, but want to use the DNS Zone? Then contact our Support to activate it.
- Enter the domain you want to add to the DNS Zone. Enter the domain without www. in front of it, for example cloud86example.com Then click add. Make sure there are no extra white spaces.
Your domain is now added to the DNS Zone and accessible via the Internet after a maximum of 2 hours. If you want to redirect the domain to another domain (website) or you want to put a new website on it, follow the following help desk articles:
- To host a new website: click here.
- To redirect a domain and add an alias: click here.
