In this guide, we explain how to create a hosting template for your clients. Using this template, you can specify fixed limits for disk space/number of websites. You can also impose fixed limits regarding vCPU and RAM. This prevents one of your clients from using your entire Managed VPS, which could cause other clients to experience slow performance.
Set up a hosting template
- Log in to Plesk.
- Go to Service Plans.
- Click Add a package to create a package yourself. The Reseller Unlimited package is created by default and has no restrictions.
In this case, we will create the Standard template. Within this template, everything can be adjusted according to your preferences.
Set limits
After creating this package, we will set the system limits. To do this, we go to the CloudLinux Manager. When opening the CloudLinux Manager, we go to the Packages page.
Here we can see that, as mentioned earlier, the Reseller Unlimited plan has no limits. To set limits for the newly created Standard plan, we edit it. To do this, click the pencil icon behind the Standard plan.
We will adjust the following elements:
- SPEED: 200% (this means 2 vCPU cores)
- PEM: 1GB (1GB of memory)
- IO: 20MB/s (this allows the website to upload files at 20MB/s)
- EP: 50 (the number of starting processes for the package)
When setting these values, take into account the type of Managed VPS you have with Cloud86. If you have a total of 3 or 4 vCPUs, you can never set this value higher than that number. If you are going to create many clients, you may need additional vCPUs or RAM to accommodate this.
