Cannot issue SSL/TLS certificate for 'yourdomainname'

Symptoms

If you have moved your domain, in some cases -when you request an SSL certificate- you may get the following error message:

Cannot issue an SSL/TLS certificate for 'yourdomain'

Details
Cannot issue a Let's Encrypt SSL/TLS certificate for 'yourdomain'.

'yourdomain' DNS zone contains an AAAA record, but the domain is not assigned to an IPv6 address in Plesk..

Cause

  • There is another DNS record of the domain active, pointing to an IPv6 address through an AAAA record.

Solution

Remove the old IPv6 address at the previous provider, or replace it with our IPv6 address (Set up an IPv6 address by Cloud86). DNS changes can take up to 4 hours to become active. After that, you can issue an SSL certificate for the website. We do not have specific steps for this, as they differ per provider.

Once the domain transfer is completed, our DNS zone will become active and any existing AAAA records will automatically be removed or replaced with our records.
